  • The report produced by Bangor University - ‘Building New Business Strategies for the Music Industry in Wales ’ is available for download here,

The Report

 

  • A meeting has been arranged between Ieuan Wyn Jones, Deputy First Minister for Wales, and members of the Gynghrair and the Welsh Music Foundation to discuss the recommendations in the Bangor University study and the crisis that faces the music industry in Wales.

 

  • If Radio Cymru were to broadcast on the digital network (DAB) then the rates for Radio Cymru would increase almost tenfold. The Gynghrair is seeking a meeting with the BBC Trustee for Wales to discuss this.

 

  • The Gynghrair has met with PPL to discuss their methods for distributing payments.

 

  • The MCPS backlog problem seems to be improving.

 

 


     

Y GYNGHRAIR has become a limited company by guarantee and is now able to accept applications for membership. It is vital that Welsh composers, publishers and authors become members in order that Y GYNGHRAIR can be a company that can respond effectively to the present situation and any future developments in the Welsh music industry. Each member is entitled to one vote in the annual General Meeting.
